The fertility diet

Make some simple food changes to help boost your fertility as a couple... scrambled eggs on wholemeal toast means slow-release carbs and protein, and eggs are rich in omega 3, ideal for male production of prostaglandin (controls hormone regulation). And pumpkin seeds for him as they contain high zinc levels- needed to make the outer layer and tail of sperm... yes really!

The fertility diet
Getting started
It’s important you start off in a healthy and positive manner, this means, getting your fertility back-on-track by seeing it as a joint project to do together, trying to make it an enjoyable exercise for you both. This can be anything from researching delicious (and nutritious) recipes together, to combining some regular exercise in your weekly schedules.

The classic phrase ‘eating for two’ starts well in advance of that home test kit’s blue lines... most experts say that a minimum of three months is required to obtain an optimum, healthy environment (that means your tummy), in which to grow a baby. Anya Sizer, Fertility Support Co-ordinator for the London Women’s Clinic says, ‘even those of us who say we eat well, could probably do with increasing certain key vitamins and minerals in to our diet. One study indicates approximately 74% of women are actually nutrient deficient. For women who are facing fertility issues in particular, (particularly unexplained infertility), its worth investing in getting this area right, to get as healthy as possible, prior to treatment.’

Breakfast is vital
Get ready to shake up your breakfast routine by introducing some healthy and sperm-friendly food choices; cook-up some scrambled eggs served on wholemeal toast. ‘It’s the perfect fertility breakfast as eggs contain virtually every nutrient vital for foetal growth, development, and repair. Eggs also slow down the release and the digestion of the entire meal, which ensures regular blood sugar levels, which in turn, can reduce any cravings for inappropriate snacking,’ says nutritionist Vicki Edgson. Vicki also suggests her top food choices for fertility: pomegranate is one of the best hormone-balancing fruits a woman can eat. Oysters; particularly for men, because they’re so rich in zinc, which is vital for sperm manufacture. Fennel and celery both support the liver function, and therefore provide a healthy production of oestrogen, which is essential for fertility.

Your dietThere are some key changes that you can make with ease, which will bring about a healthy body for a healthy conception. Sizer says ‘stick with a low GI diet, this regulates blood sugar levels and stops insulin levels spiking. Insulin has recently been shown to not only inhibit conception, due to blocking-off progesterone levels, but it’s also been linked with increasing birth defects in developing babies.’ Sizer also stresses the importance of essential fatty acids (EFA’s), particularly omega 3 and omega 6, as these are vital for healthy hormone levels and foetal development. And, to ensure that you rest as much as possible; sleep is vital for the body’s recovery process, hormone regulation and energy levels. As sleep deprivation has been linked to adrenaline over load and insulin production, which is bad news.
A healthy diet is vital for fertility for both men and women, as being overweight, has been shown to have a big impact on (and interfere) with male and female fertility levels. Susie Perry Debrice, Nutritionist at The Food Doctor says ‘get yourselves back-on-track with your fertility by following the principles of a GI diet; it helps to get insulin levels balanced. High levels of insulin in women have been linked to infertility conditions (such as PCOS), and can interfere with testosterone production in males. Eat plenty of carbohydrates with a low GI score, such as wholegrain, lentils, and pulses. Replace white bread with brown, swap your usual pasta to whole-wheat pasta, white rice with brown rice.’ www.thefooddoctor.com A diet high in sugary foods and refined carbohydrates can trigger insulin levels to become unnaturally high and encourages fat deposit around the waistline.

Basic biologyGrab some pumpkin seeds for him as they contain high zinc levels - needed to make the outer layer and tail of sperm. Susie sends us back to the classroom, she explains, ‘sperm has a long journey to make before reaching the egg; so they need to be able to swim in the right direction, at high speed. It’s vital that sperm is well formed, and has a strong tail to help propel them on their journey. To this end, it needs a strong head and tail for the end of the journey, so that it has enough strength to burrow through the egg’s outer layer, and deliver the chromosomes so that fertilization takes place.’ Basically, the head of sperm contains a sac which is full of genetic material (think chromosomes), which contains all the vital information required to make a perfectly formed, healthy baby. This is what we are all hoping for, so get your selves sorted this spring, and reap the health benefits.

The Truth of My Journey in Becoming A Father

The previous blog entered in 2009 was a testimony that I handed into VIVA Life Science for their monthly newsletter.  It was obvious that I had to write in a way that their product was the foundation of my success.  Well, there was some truth to that but not the whole truth.

Now That I am not actively promoting the business, I can reveal the whole truth for the benefit of my prosterity and for anyone who is seeking for an alternative.

This is what really happened...

Shortly after the seminal analysis in June 2004, Elaine bit on something hard in her Hokkien Mee and chipped one of her molar.  I rushed her to her regular dental clinic in Bedok near her parents' home to patch it up.  I waited for her outside at the reception.  Feeling really bored, I was thumbing through all the magazines.  I came across an issue of Men's Health and found an article on fertility.  It mentioned that Skippy Peanut Butter can help to increase the testosterone.  That immediately rang a bell in me that I needed to include peanut butter which is rich in Vit E in my diet and exercise to increase my own testosterone.

For the following month, I did brisk walking in the morning at least 3 times a week and ate peanut butter sandwich for breakfast.  Sometimes, I just take a spoon of peanut butter as snacks.  I was still taking my VIVA supplements faithfully to ensure high success in fertility.

It took just about a month's time to change from 2% seminal mortality rate to positive pregnancy.  My hard work has paid off.

Thanks to the chipped molar that Elaine had to go to the dentist.  While she suffered the trauma of dental drill, I was given divine guidance to pick up that Men's Health magazine and read that one particular article on Fertility.

Today, I am a proud father of 3 beautiful children.  I have now 2 boys and a girl.  I will find time to share about my journey of inviting them into our family.

It's a Miracle - We are Having a Baby Soon!

It's been awhile since I blog. Not sure if this was secured (Mindsay.com - my site was blocked for no apparent reason), but seems like it is fine so far (It wasn't that secure after all). At least what I have blogged is still around (It was all gone, that's why I have to redo a new one here). So, I shall keep blogging from now on (Better to create a backup blog elsewhere).

Yes, I have a baby on the way. Expected due date is 20 April 2005. It's a boy! We are going to name him Clayton Lau. No Chinese or middle name yet. I have a long story to tell about this boy even before he is born.

Before Elaine and I got married (Dec 2002), we did a premarital medical check and I was diagnosed with only 15% mortality rate at 2nd hour for seminal analysis. The Doctor tried to sound positive, but it didn't work too well on Elaine. I believe in miracles so it didn't bother me.

It was June 2004 and we still have not conceived. Thought that it was due to Elaine's high stress work level, we decided to go for a medical check once more. She was fine, but I was in bad shape. This time, my seminal analysis was only 2% mortality rate. Having been using VIVA's products for 3.5 years, it was hard to believe that this is happening to me. This time the Doctor painted a very sad story for us. She recommended IVF and all the expensive treatment, but everything she said fell on deaf ears. I just smiled at her and thought to myself that - "So, this is how you get rich!" I believed that miracle can happen, but that didn't stop Elaine from crying for a few nights. After a quick self analysis, I have not been doing what I should be doing.

VIVA has never said that by using VIVA's products everything will be "Happy Ever After...". Instead, VIVA advocated ESSENCE of Life. That is Eat, Sleep, Supplement, Exercise, Natural Water, Cleanse, & Exclude Harmful Substances. I did almost all, but not all. I lack Proper Eating, Sleep and Exercise. So, I started to Eat more of everything, Sleep a bit more regular in hours, Exercise 3 times a week for more than an hour each time. I also made sure that my supplements has Daily Guard, AgeGuard, Green Barley, Natural E, Cal-Mag & D Plus, B-Easy and ChloroGuard.

In August, Elaine was tested positive for pregnancy. We believed that this is a miralce that brought about by having faith in God, and having faith in VIVA's products. God blessed us with wonderful products and knowledge, so it is up to us to put it into practice by exercising faith on our part. Instead of spending thousands of dollars, God gave us a baby for Free! Now, Elaine is the one taking heavy doses of all the VIVA's products to make sure that Baby Clayton is developing well. Our money is well spent on making sure that the mother and the baby is healthy through out the pregnancy.

On 3 Dec., we did a detail scan and was told that we have a boy!

On 26 Dec., Elaine felt his first kick.

On 4 Jan., I felt a bump - could be a kick.

This is a wonderful message that I love to share it with the world.
